David, 31, was the Development Lead Coach for Dive London, overseeing the progress of the next generation of elite athletes at the London Aquatics Centre during his eight years involved with the diving program there.

How Did David Jenkins Die

David Jenkins, a member of Great Britain’s Tokyo 2020 Olympic coaching staff in diving, died over the weekend, British Swimming confirmed on Monday. He was 31.

Jenkins was the Development Lead Coach for Dive London, the country’s top diving program based out of the London Aquatics Centre. He spent 8 years with that program. There he coached under renowned coach Jane Figueroa.

He was the coach of two young divers – Noah Williams and Scarlett Mew-Jensen – who both represented Great Britain at the Tokyo Olympics. Williams placed 27th in the 10-meter platform event at 21 years old, while Mew-Jensen was 22nd in the 3-meter springboard event at 19 years old.

David Rudolph Jenkins, 71, of Berryville, Virginia died Friday, September 17, 2021, in the VA Medical Center in Martinsburg, West Virginia.

Mr. Jenkins was born November 28, 1949, in Winchester, Virginia, the son of the late Clarence Ritter Jenkins and Essie Virginia Taylor Jenkins.

David was subsequently nominated for Diving Coach of the Year at the British Swimming Awards in 2018. There were further successes for his athletes at the junior international level too.

Away from the elite side of the sport, David’s love for coaching and the sport saw him play an instrumental role in the Tom Daley Diving Academy, delivering Learn To Dive lessons to thousands of children across the country.
