Atlanta news anchor Jovita Moore committed suicide on Thursday, October 28 after suffering from brain cancer that took the life of a popular new personality.
Moore, 53, a highly respected journalist and long-standing mainstay of WSB-TV in Atlanta, seven months after being diagnosed with an incurable and aggressive form of brain cancer.
WSB-TV, where Moore had worked since 1998, announced Friday that Moore had died of glioblastoma on Thursday night.
“After nearly 7 months of war with a highly aggressive form of brain cancer, our colleague and friend Jovita Moore is dead,” Moore’s co-anchor Justin Farmer said in a video posted on the station’s website. “He was by his side with his family last night, as he wanted. He passed peacefully. “
Moore went to the doctor in mid-April when he felt he was leaving while walking through the parking lot of a grocery store.
