Ice star Sean Rice dies aged 49 -What Happened With Him

The Canadian professional ice skater took part on the ITV competition in 2011 and 2012 and was a firm favorite with fans.

He also competed in the World Championships with his wife, and fellow professional skater, Jodeyne Higgins, with who he shares daughter Signey with.

Close friends confirmed that he died on January 14. The cause of his death remains unknown. 

In the two years that Sean was a pro skater on the ITV show, Sean danced with former newsreader Angela Rippon in 2011 and then a year later with Alpine ski racer, Chemmy Alcott.

Chemmy paid tribute to Sean with a sweet message on Twitter: “Have just heard the tragic news that Sean Rice, my partner from DOI, has passed away.

Frankie wrote: “Pro skaters are heartbroken today, we lost a true larger-than-life great – an epic skater, a husband, father, and my friend of 20 years.

He had a successful ice-skating career and was a two-time Canadian pairs bronze medallist with his wife Jodeyne and four-time Canadian fours champion.
