National-level wrestler Nisha Dahiya and her brother were shot dead on Wednesday by unknown assailants in Haryana’s Sonipat.
Dahiya’s mother, who was injured in the attack, is in critical condition.
The motive for the murder is yet to be ascertained.
On Friday, Dahiya had won the bronze medal in the 72kg weight class at the U23 World Wrestling Championships 2021 in Belgrade.

Locals set Sushil Kumar Wrestling Academy in Sonepat’s Halalpur, Haryana, on fire after unknown assailants shot dead national level wrestler Nisha Dahiya and her brother on Wednesday.
Nisha’s mother Dhanpati was also injured during the incident and is in a critical condition. She has been admitted to Rohtak’s PGI hospital.
